Snow is falling

I'm working from home today. On reflection this morning I probably could have walked the 3 miles across the fields to work, but knowing that further heavy snow was forecast throughout the entire day, and that I have a cold already, I didn't fancy trudging home through it. I can work at home pretty much unimpeded, which makes the decision much easier than it might have been.

Snowing in the Night

Long Night Exposure

Just took the above photo with our Fuji S1000fd – set to shutter priority, 6 seconds (with the camera jammed against the window to hold it steady). It's snowing pretty hard outside… (it's dark – the long exposure has made it look much lighter than reality)

Christmas in Cornwall

In the same manner as Tolkein's Hobbits having "second breakfast", we are having a second Christmas of sorts at my parents in Cornwall. It's the first opportunity Wendy and I have had to really switch off for months – and a great opportunity for my parents to spend some quality time with their grandchildren.

Tomorrow I have arm twisted my Dad into coming to watch Avatar with us in Plymouth – it's probably the first time he's been to the cinema in 10 years.
